This project places young people at the centre of a professional creative experience through in-school workshops led by photographer and qualified teacher Cate Gillon. Pupils develop technical skills and creative confidence while engaging in authentic photographic practice.
The structure is intentionally inclusive. Pupils are invited to create both a landscape and a portrait, with an in-school portrait session involving former pupils returning to be photographed and hosted by current learners.
Every pupil who produces work is included in the exhibition alongside Cate Gillon’s professional portraits, affirming the value of young people’s creative contribution and reinforcing high expectations. A public launch celebrates the collective outcome as an event that welcomes young people, families, staff and community members, extending the impact beyond the classroom.
